Marching on Constitution Avenue

Post date: Aug 28, 2015 3:25:18 AM

The Bakersfield High School Marching Band was nominated by Congressman Kevin McCarthy to perform at the 4th of July Parade in Washington DC! This will be the 240th anniversary of our independence. We look forward to the honor of representing Bakersfield, as well as California to the rest of the country. The band will precisely be marching down Constitution Avenue between the the White house and Washington Monument. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for these young men and women. They will be able to see the nation's capital, and Representative McCarthy will be arranging for the “non-tourist” tour for the band.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. For a group of students that many have never left the state, to go and fulfill this honor, will be a truly amazing moment they will have forever. Sponsorship's will be sought, raffle tickets raffled, and memorabilia will be vended. We will be pursuing all avenues possible to make this honor a reality. Keep an eye on your email, and this site, for the details as they come out.

Personally, I'd like to say: I know that there are many parents concerned with the potential cost, and the boosters are committed to making this feasible for every student; and working together, this will be an extraordinary venture for every student in the Marching Band. - Mr. Bennett
